Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.

Dennis and I went to a party recently with a photo booth. This is what resulted. I love our photo booth pictures. And this is just one of many things that made my week great…
It’s the little things… 18 Everyday Things You’ve Been Using Wrong will probably change your life.
Oh my gosh. The Landfill Harmonic Orchestra video is simply AWESOME. Watch it– and then show it to your kids. Interesting conversations are sure to ensue.
Sometimes, fashion is just stupid, and I think the current floral trend definitely qualifies. I went off on the floral faux pas over at The Stir. The comments on the post were pretty hilarious.
The Gruffalo is one of my family’s favorite books and movies (the movie won an Oscar, after all). So we were thrilled to find that the makers of The Gruffalo have just released a movie version of Room on the Broom, one of our favorite Halloween books. (Check out my list of favorite Halloween kids books for more ideas.) It is absolutely delightful. It’s 30 minutes long and a perfect Halloween movie to watch with your kids.
My dearest wish when I was a kid was to one day star on You Can’t Do That on Television. Sadly, some dreams don’t come true…
Painting your nails doesn’t seem to require much thought- until you realize that you don’t know which colors are the It colors of the season. Well I did the research, girls, and the fall nail colors are very daring. One of the most important things to have on hand- OPI Matte Top Coat. Matte nails are huge this fall. HUGE, I tell you.
I just discovered Seth Godin’s blog this week and I’m really enjoying it. His posts are thoughtful and concise and they leave you with food for thought. Here’s a passage from a recent post:
The way we spend our time online determines not only whether or not the community we choose grows and thrives, but it decides whether or not we will be part of what is built.
“What can I contribute today,” might be the very best way to become part of a community. Relentless generosity brings us closer together.
Brill.
My fruit fly post from earlier this week is tearing it up on Facebook and Pinterest. Who knew so many of you out there share my fruit fly woes? You all left some great comments, but this has to be my favorite. It’s in answer to a woman’s question on how to get rid of grain moths:
Check your containers of oatmeal, you might have larvae in there that magically change into the moths. Also check flour and other staples partically if left in original containers. Good Luck! I once had an infestation of tiny larvae in my rice, same color same size until cooked then they got big and that was pretty disgusting because the discovery came after dinner.
I’ll never look at rice the same way again…
Librarians + Beastie Boys = TOTAL HILARITY.
What made your week great? Share in the comments- I love seeing what’s inspired you or made you laugh…

My week was made great because my comment has just made me famous for having larvae in my rice. Who knew that having a disgusting event in your life could make such an impression.
Ha! It’s one of those stories that become legend, you know. No one who reads that comment will ever look at their stored rice the same way again!
