Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.
August 15, 2011
This summer, we…
Spent $20 on a stuffed dog during Crane Day 2011…
watched an outdoor ballet,
explored our favorite garden,
learned to take care of ponies during Equine Camp,
went to Storytime and Crafting Hour at the Nashville Library,
went to two Vacation Bible Schools,
learned about acting at theater camp,
visited three different farmers markets,
went on nature hikes,
had educational fun,
took a business trip to Chicago,
enjoyed a getaway with friends,
hosted an amazing party,
and went to Holiday World.
It feels like summer started only a few weeks ago and already, it’s this time again:
Punky started second grade Thursday, Bruiser starts his last year of preschool today, and my 18-year-old leaves for college on Thursday.
I would ask where the time went, but looking at all these photos, I think I’ve found my answer…

Love Punky’s hair ribbons and outfit! We don’t even start school in Minnesota until the day after Labor Day!
Lucky you! I don’t know why we start so early here, particularly when August is the hottest month of the year…
You’re so blessed.
We’ve got 3 more weeks of summer, and we’re going to enjoy every single day of it until they drag me kicking and screaming back to school. And I’m a teacher!
Ha! Yes! I am SO GLAD school is starting back up today– and we had such a jam packed summer of fun that I don’t even have to feel guilty about it! 😉
What a lovely summer!
I think it was the best one yet! 🙂
Love Punky’s expression – it is a joy to have a child who loves school.
No kidding! Both my little ones were ecstatic, and my college freshman can’t WAIT to start school on Thursday. Makes it a lot easier for me. 🙂
School starts tomorrow here and when I asked the kids what awesome, enriching, memory-making, photo op adventure they would like on their last day of vacation, they both said they wanted to stay home! Just can’t win…
Oh, and every time I see a picture of Punky, I’m envious of her hair. 🙂
I know what you mean- My kids are the same way! 🙂
Looks like a wonderful way to spend a summer!!
No wonder I’m exhausted now! 😀
Looks like a fabulous summer, Lindsay. Best of luck this school year to all of yours.
Thanks, Jenna! Same to you!
What a great wrap up of summer–so much fun (and such great photos!). I’m eager for school to start in these parts–two more weeks. I’m so ready!
Such wonderful memories for you!! Keep us posted on how Punky likes second grade. My kids still have a few weeks of summer to go…
You were BUSY! what great memories!
