Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.
August 3, 2011
On this crazy-busy week when it’s just too hot to even think about sending the kids outside, thank GOD for finger painting kits!
Okay, so I realize I’ve been a little bit AWOL around here this week, but I suspected it was going to be this way.
I drove back to Nashville with the kids from Atlanta on Monday and have spent the last two days racing around, getting ready to leave tomorrow for San Diego and Blogher ’11. SO MUCH TO DO. SO LITTLE TIME.
I’ve been to (and loved) other blogging conferences, but BlogHer truly is THE BIG ONE. It will have 3,000 attendees this year and my schedule is so tightly packed, I don’t think I have a spare second from the moment I arrive until I leave on Sunday afternoon.
Stressed? YES.
Unprepared? TOTALLY.
Excited? OF COURSE!
If you are going, I’d love to see you! I’ll be part of the “Your Blog Can Make You a Local Hero” panel on Saturday afternoon and of course, I’ll be hosting the CheeseburgHer Party from 10pm to 1am on Saturday night. Come up and introduce yourself!
I’ll also have at least one more blog post up this week- I’ve got a good one in mind– but I need the four-hour plane flight to San Diego to actually find the time to write it!
In the meantime, enjoy your week and get ready, because when I get back next week it’s all systems go here on Suburban Turmoil. The kids start school next Thursday and I’m ready to have a little more dedicated time to focus on my work. I had a great summer, though. It FLEW by!
And one more thing — As the school year gets started back up, I was trying to decide which Bible study group to join, and it occurred to me that it might be fun to host one here on the blog, starting in September. Beth Moore offers a great Bible study online called “Living Beyond Yourself”— For $23.95, you can enroll and watch the weekly videos online and download the worksheet pages. I would write a discussion post about it each week and we could talk about it in the comments. I like this idea because I actually started this study last spring and had to drop out because I couldn’t make it to so many of the weekly group discussions. But the videos I did see were AWESOME. An online study would allow you to watch the video on your own schedule during the week and join in the discussion when you’re ready. I warn you, though, it’s a bit time-intensive. The five-day-a-week “homework” takes about 45 minutes per day, but trust me, IT IS SO WORTH IT. Anyone interested? If so, leave a comment and if enough of you want to do it…
…then let’s do it!

Oh yeah. I’m in. Love that idea!
Would love to do a Beth Moore study online! I’ve done a couple at church and they are amazing.
I’ve been wanting to do a Beth Moore study, but my schedule is always crazy . . . I’m in!
I’d love to do a bible study 🙂
I love Beth Moore studies and would love to have an online group to chat with about one. This is a great idea!
Count me in for the Bible Study, too!
I’d be interested in the bible study – great idea!
I love the idea of a Bible study. Which Bible would you be using? Also, if I don’t have time to join (with a 2 week old baby and all…) I would still love to read your posts on the readings 🙂

I use NIV and Beth Moore usually does too, although sometimes she delves into other versions for their wording.
Have never done an online study or a Beth Moore study! I work almost full time, so the flexibility appeals to me!
I’d be up for that! I’ve always wanted to do a Beth Moore study!
I love Beth Moore and would love to do a study but I am doing B90 Days over at Mom’s Toolbox and won’t be done until October. If you ever do another one, count me in!
Well if this goes well, I’ll probably do a study several times a year. My quality of life vastly improves whenever I’m involved in a Bible Study- I need the structure- and I love the idea of doing them with you guys.
I’d be up for that, I’ve always wanted to do a Beth Moore study but I’ll admit that I get a little intimidated talking about matters of faith in front of people. An on-line study sounds perfect!
I totally understand and feel the same way. Beth Moore studies can be really intimate and probing- I think doing it online is going to open something that can be lifechanging to so many more women who may not feel comfortable sharing in a small group format (LIKE ME). 😀
For whatever reason, I’ve found it almost impossible to post a comment – maybe because I’m saying I’d like to join? (nothing like starting out with opposition!) I’m not a Beth Moore fan – I should make that clear up front – and am passionate about making sure the truth of scripture is what is being taught…but I’m also pretty quiet and nonconfrontational =).
I would love for you to join, and to feel comfortable questioning whatever you want to question. I’m hoping that all types will feel comfortable doing this- from women who’ve given up on church but still believe in God to people like you who aren’t Beth Moore fans to diehard Beth Moore devotees.
I feel so lucky to have a community of diverse women who are (almost!) all also really, really nice. I think this is a great opportunity to explore some faith issues in a safe, potentially anonymous place. 🙂
I’m going to figure out the schedule today and post more info on when we’ll start, how to join, etc this week. YAY.

oh yeah!
I adore Beth Moore. Can you please let me know how to participate?

I am definitely interested!!!
I have always wanted to do a Beth Moore study – I’ll give the online study a try!
I checked out the study and it looks like it will work on our less than speedy internet connection. I’m definitely interested.
