Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.

Let’s say you want to make brownies for the kids, but don’t have an hour to wait for them to bake. These brownie cookies are made from a box of brownie mix, and only take 12 minutes in the oven! From 7-year-old Punky: “These are the best cookies I’ve ever tasted in my whole life.” They are especially good warm.
-1 box chocolate brownie mix (We used Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Brownie Mix
-1 cup all-purpose flour
-3 eggs
-1/3 cup vegetable oil
-3/4 cup powdered sugar
-Preheat oven to 350°F.
-Stir together brownie mix, flour, eggs and oil in a medium bowl. If you have time, put this mixture in the refrigerator for 10-30 minutes. It’ll harden up a little bit and be much less messy during the next step.
-Place powdered sugar in a separate bowl.
-For each cookie, scoop 1 rounded tablespoon of dough and place in powdered sugar. Roll dough gently into a ball, coating thoroughly with powdered sugar.
-Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. (For best results, I use a baking stone- no burned bottoms!)
-Bake 11-13 minutes.
Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.

I hope you won’t delete your other recipes from your “old” blog. I have tried
several and loved them. I printed those out, but the ones I haven’t tried yet, I
only saved the link to the page.
I must say I LOVE LOVE your new website.
You were the 2nd blog I ever began reading a few years back. My kids are almost grown so I don’t exactly need parenting tips now (ha) and I’m not much into the fashion stuff, but I still can’t resist coming back
to your blog and catching up – it’s like an old friend! Anyway, after years of seeing it evolve, I always thought it was much too simple of a design anyway. This just suits you perfectly!!
Thank you Bonnie! This is definitely still a work in progress, but I think it’ll work a lot better in the end. 🙂
As for the recipes, I’ll repost them as I make them and take better photos- I just got a new camera lens, so I can improve the look, I think. Plus, I’ve got a TON of awesome new recipes. I’m only going to post my favorites, so everything is guaranteed to be good.
Testing, testing my new comment system!
I have always made these from scratch at Christmas time. (My all time favorite cookie) I will definitely have to try this recipe out!
Do these harden up fairly quickly (within a day)? The cookies my recipe makes have a tendency to get hard if not eaten within 48 hours, even when in an airtight container.
I left these out for several hours and they stayed nice and soft, but I did put them in an airtight container after that. Once they had cooled, I warmed them in the microwave for a few seconds before serving, which also makes them softer. 🙂
I read this recipe, then made them. Delish!
Excellent! I love this recipe because it’s made of stuff you probably already have in the pantry. What kind of brownie mix did you use?
Betty Crocker Dark Chocolate (that’s what I had in the pantry) and I added 6 oz of mini-chocolate chips.
I make these from scratch at Christmas too, an old recipe of my mom’s that we used to call Wagon Wheel Cookies.
It’s amazing how many variations of this recipe there are! I love that you can get the same effect with a box of brownie mix. 🙂
