Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.

If you haven’t figured it out already, this season of “I’ll Take That Dare” is the double dare edition. I’m taking dares with everyone from Real Housewife of New York Alex McCord to my BFFs Yvonne and Lena to…
Mary and Leah from Fabulous on a Budget!
What? You’ve never heard of Mary and Leah?
You will.
They are two twenty-something best friends who met in design school and started shooting Internet videos together with the help of a third friend, who shoots and edits everything for them. The results are AMAZING, and I have absolutely no doubt that these two will eventually end up with their own show on the Style channel or HGTV or something. They are cute and funny and real, and they were so much fun to take a dare with.
Since these girls are into design, we decided it would be… interesting… to create and wear our own duct tape outfits to The Grove in L.A. (If it’s not completely obvious, we had a little help with our duct tape costumes. Had I made the outfit myself, I don’t believe the public response would have been so favorable.) Here’s what happened:
I was actually surprised that people were digging our outfits at The Grove. For those of you who don’t know about it, The Grove is an outdoor shopping mall in LA that’s very popular with fashionistas and celebrities. You’ll often see paparazzi photos of starlets shopping at The Grove. If there’s any place where I’d expect duct tape fashions to NOT fly, this would be the place.
And yet… people were loving it!
So perhaps duct tape really does have a future in fashion. The recession couldn’t hurt its chances, right? And I have noticed that duct tape has now earned its own AISLE at my local Target.
Hmmm. We could be on to something.
