>Lately? Style Kinda… Sucks.

  1. bereccah says:

    >I honestly can’t remember the last time I went shopping and really really had to have something. More frequently I leave with nothing, muttering under my breath about how it all is horrible!

  2. >I have so fallen off the fashion train. I know this because I hear it at least once a week from my 16 yr old. I like my jeans and see nothing wrong with t-shirts. It’s not like I’m running around in mumus or gold lame and feather boas. All my clothes match each other (I have been told I own every shade or brown and beige available) and are clean. I don’t wear purple with orange or hot pink with red. I actually don’t wear hot pink but you know what I mean…. I have four kids. I am much more worried about stain resistance and ability to move quickly with out embarrasment or binding than what Hollywood dressers would think of the contents of my closet. I will admit to a deep and abiding love of boots. I have every pair I can talk myself into needing. Also known as all of the boots I have ever tried on and a few I didn’t have time to. From hiking to s***kickers I own them all. Now that the oldest two are in or close to my shoe size I have had to keep an eye on my inventory and find myself saying things like: “No your not wearing anything with 5 inch heels to school.” and “Go before your Daddy sees your feet. I haven’t told him about those, don’t scuff ’em.”So maybe I’m not totally derailed yet…………

    >Since I look like a cow no matter what I wear, I wear jeans and tshirts ( much to my husbands chagrin) most of the time. does it matter? I mean I live in the middle of a freakin' rain forest, so jeans & tees are perfect, now that it is cold, i tend to wear a long underwear shirt under my tee, which is great because if i double layer i omit the bra ( yay, freedom for the girls!!!). I hate leggings in any way, shape or form if you are over the age of 7 .

  4. Amy Z says:

    >While definitely appreciated by my post partum body this year, the prevalence of maternity wear in non-maternity clothing isn’t a trend I can get reliably behind.

  5. >bereccah I second that. Fashion isn’t fun anymore.

  6. >I totally agree. WHAT is up with the six pounds of eyeliner per EYE, look? I will stick to my color and my “natural” eye..except of course, when I can go get my smokey eyes done LOL

  7. Swirl Girl says:

    >Boo on ‘fashion’ experts who sold us hip hugging muffin-topping pants and jeans!

  8. Suzy says:

    >I think it’s the getting old thing cuz when I started complaining about those high-heeled Mary Janes, everyone under 28 looked at me like I was their GRANDMOTHER. Now I keep my mouth shut but do wear Vampire fingernail polish occasionly. It’s LA, there are rules.

  9. Mom101 says:

    >When I first heard empire waist/baby dolls were giving way to the Mad Men trend of fitted sweaters and pencil skirts I nearly choked on my Twix bar. I’m with you, mama.

  10. Susan K says:

    >What is up the *ugly* prints on almost every shirt? If you can get past the style (either super clingy or maternity-esque), the colors and designs are hideous! I saw grandma in these in the 70’s. Ugh!Being plus-sized is definitely not a help either. :-(I had 4 kids, I don’t want to look pregnant again.

  11. ThatGirl says:

    >I think the dark eyeliner is the worst. My daughter is sporting way too much and looks like a hobbit.

  12. Anonymous says:

    >I wish I could say it’s just YOU, and trot away in these shoes that are so in yet look stupid, but I can’t. Let’s join hands in unity (and for balance) and agree it’s Them.

  13. Marsha says:

    >I never really cared about what was “in style,” even when I was a teenager, 30 years ago. I get compliments on my clothes all the time because I’ve figured out what looks good on me and I stick with it.I rarely shop retail because all the stores tend to have the same stuff, and mostly it’s ugly. Almost all my clothes come from thrift stores, where you can find anything from the last 4 decades. A new Goodwill superstore just opened near me. Heaven!

  14. >Ol’ Skunk don’t know fashion, especially women’s fashion. He just knows what he likes when he sees it (okay, I heard those *oinks* in the audience).Merry Christmas to you and yours, Lindsay!

  15. Cyndie says:

    >Combination of bad economy/we’re getting old.Goth is going mainstream, and fashion always goes down the toilet in an ecnomic downturn.
