>Menus and Traditions
>Many of you have been requesting my Thanksgiving recipes from years past- Sorry I’m so late on this, but for those of you still looking for something fabulous, here’s my menu (We order a Cajun deep fried turkey each year, so I’m off the hook on that one!)…
- The ultimate hit is this sausage and wild mushroom stuffing. It is OUTRAGEOUSLY GOOD and will put everyone else’s dish to shame, guaranteed!
- This creamed corn is a kid favorite, it’s super easy to make and I swear it’s the best creamed corn you will ever put in your mouth.
- I haven’t done Party Potatoes in a few years, so I decided to go back to an old favorite. It’s basically what I think mashed potatoes taste like in heaven.
- Yeast rolls. Simple. Delicious. Easy. Homemade.
- Honey and Spice Cranberry Sauce. Also fantastic. It’s so much better when you make it yourself, and it’s not the least bit difficult.
- Spinach and Artichoke Casserole. Trying this one this year for the first time. It seemed like it would go well with everything else.
- Southern Apple Crumble for dessert. Perfect, easy and absolutely delicious!
Punky and I will make another Thanksgiving Blessings turkey tomorrow for the family. My parents and grandparents are coming for Thanksgiving and when they arrive, we’ll all write down what we’re thankful for on feathers until the turkey is complete.
Also, now’s as good a time as any to share with you some of the Christmas traditions I’m preparing for right now.
We are doing a Jesse Tree for the first year and I’m really excited about it. I have downloaded Ann Voskamp’s Jesse Tree book and plan to make most of the ornaments this weekend with Punky.
I am even more excited about this new tradition, which I found on a blog last year. The hardest part was finding and ordering a nativity manger that didn’t cost $200! I finally found this one and ordered it and I can’t wait to start this “Tradition of the Straws” with my family when it arrives.
I have a few giveaways I’m going to try to post today- I’ll add them to this post once they’re up.
- First, I’m giving away a $25 Whole Foods card. If you have a Whole Foods near you, you’ll definitely want to enter. You can either use it to buy upscale groceries or do what my husband and I enjoy, which is take your family to Whole Foods for dinner! They have something for everyone there in the ready-to-eat section, from sushi and salads to hot entrees and sides, and a dining area in the front of the store. YUM.
