Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.

There’s not much better than buying a carton of fresh blackberries at the farmer’s market in the summertime, or better yet, picking them yourselves. Blackberry cobbler is the best way to eat them. I grew up eating all kinds of cobblers– this is my favorite blackberry cobbler recipe of all I’ve tasted.
INGREDIENTS
DIRECTIONS
-Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
-Spray 8×8 square pan with non-stick cooking spray (I like Pam baking spray). Put blackberries in the pan and sprinkle with a dusting of sugar if you like (I do- it makes them taste sweeter).
-Mix egg, sugar and flour in a bowl. Stir until the mix has a cornmeal-like consistency.
-Sprinkle mixture over blackberries, drizzle melted butter over all. Do not stir.
-Cook 30-35 minutes or until lightly browned on top.
-Serve with ice cream.

That picture is not blackberries, it’s blueberries.
Ha ha, ‘fraid not. It’s a blackberry up close. If you look, you can see another blackberry in the background. 🙂
Well, it didn’t look like any blackberry I’d ever picked or eaten in 55 years, being blue instead of “black” and the prominent “stems” coming out of the center of each individual “sphere”. The “other one in the background” just looked like a reflection to me. I GOOGLEd the actual picture where someone had done the photograph to put on their blog and she lives on Vancouver Island and said she picked it herself, so maybe the varieties that grow in the far Northwest are that different from in Tennessee where they grown wild on our property so I expected a picture that looks like the ones around here. But, anyway, have you ever eaten Blue Bell Blackberry Cobbler ice cream? It is not as good as actual blackberry cobbler, but it is so good that the two of them together is VERY VERY good.
I’ll be going to our farmers market this coming friday and getting blueberries! It is a simple recipe and all I need is the berries. =) thank you!
This was yummy! Have you tried it with any other fruits?
It works for any small berries, like blueberries or raspberries. 🙂 I’ve made it with both and it’s great!
