>Questions, Questions

  1. picklemom4 says:

    >Okay, so we have a Macbook, and IMac, and a PC. We never, ever use the PC. My husband wanted to keep it for those programs that don’t run on a Mac, but now he’s decided not to even bother with those programs. So it just sits. In the basement. All alone.I kind of feel bad for it…

  2. Mrs. N says:

    >Here’s the issue with a PC–you have to buy Windows Vista. Vista is an evil computer breaking, mental headcase trauma inducing, threaten to throw my computer out and the window and MEAN it trainwreck.Luckily my husband is a computer geek and was able to wipe Vista off my harddrive, obtained a copy of XP (I don’t know and don’t care who he killed to get it) and DOWNGRADED me. For which I am everlastingly grateful.I can not tell you how many time I have uttered the phrase, “You were right, I should’ve bought a Mac” have come out of my mouth in the past year. The worst part? Hear and soul I’m a PC girl.

  3. Anonymous says:

    >Everybody chant with me now, “POST IT, POST IT, POST IT, POST IT!”

  4. >Buy a Mac! You can run Windows on it better than you could on a PC… As for those programs that simply aren’t available for a Mac, they can suck it. I have both (my PC laptop is my work computer — thanks, boss) and there’s no comparison. My brand-spankin’ new iMac is pretty much the coolest thing ever.

  5. Anonymous says:

    >GET AN APPLE!! Since you can run windows on your apple, I can’t think of any program that you would need that stupid PC for.

  6. DeafMomWorld says:

    >Get a Apple!!!! I was in the same boat with picklemom4 – I had a macbook pro, powerbook, and a Dell PC. Guess which computer sat in the basement and collected dust…. yup – get a mac! You really can run PC programs on the mac by using bootcamp or parallel (but have to buy the XP software). I now have a Macbook Pro, Powerbook, and an iMac and haven’t looked back. I was sorely tempted to get the macbook air but I decided to wait a few generations. Get a Mac! Please! Seriously, get a mac.

  7. >You have a point. I have Windows for Apple on my laptop, too, which I can run on up to four other Apples fo’ free…

  8. >Oh, and the post in question is not about SAHDs, so some of you might be sorely disappointed…

  9. ktjane says:

    >if you go the pc route, hp and dell have never done me wrong, plus these two companies tend to be more environmentally friendly (which is always a bonus!). i hear dell is carbon-neutral these days…

  10. doow says:

    >Mac, Mac, Mac, Mac, Mac, Mac.

  11. >A ten year Mac family here. I have an old G4 from 2002. Recently I started a PT job where they purchased me a Dell laptop. My almost 6 year old G4 is faster than the Dell. How’s that for awesome?I really don’t like going back to a PC after using a Mac. Who cares about programs not running on a Mac. Any developer too cheap to format it for OS isn’t worth the money anyway. As far as the post, I guess it depends on why you have this blog? To make people happy or to be yourself? Hmmmm. My philosophy is if you’re not pissing someone off, you aren’t doing it right.

  12. Stacy says:

    >We just bought our kidlet an iMac and it will run Windows on a parallel enviroment. Which is the nerd-way to say it’s a kick ass Mac, but it also just takes two clicks to start up Windows XP.

  13. Kim Bogle says:

    >Don’t get Vista…. I’m totally a PC person but Vista is a nightmare… I’ve always been an HP person and I’ve heard fabulous things about Dell… I would recommend either of those two for a PC, but do whatever you can to avoid Vista. I’m working on downgrading to XP myself (I wish my husband where a tech guy and do this for me). Nearly everyday I want to slam my laptop against a wall HARD, and I wish I hadn’t been so happy for the latest and greatest with Vista last spring when I got a laptop. My HP desktop (I’m on my third) has been great.

  14. alice says:

    >So, here I sit on my mac (which I love), and the one thing that I have to say is that if you’re looking for cheap, mac ain’t it. Dell and HP are both great, and it’s often far easier to get your computer serviced if it ever needs it. *However* – Vista sucks balls. Do not get it if you can at all avoid it. (You could get a pc and run Ubuntu – a type of Linux OS – on it, which would definitely meet the cheap needs, but wouldn’t satisfy the PC program needs.)

  15. Miss Britt says:

    >If you don’t write it, it will clog up the works. You won’t be able to write anything else well until it’s out.At least, that’s how it always works for me. :-)And – GET A MAC, so that we can all live vicariously through you.

  16. Smiling Mom says:

    >Mac. PC’s are outdated. Haven’t you seen the commercials?? 😉

  17. >Thank you for your advice, everyone. You are giving me the push I needed. I was worried that we’d get a Mac and regret it later, but it’s good to know so many of you are happy with yours. As for the expense of Macs, with our PC computers (we have a ’97 desktop and the older girls each have PC laptops), I have to have our computer guy come out every six months or so (for about $100 each visit) and clean out/fix small problems witht hem . With the Mac, I’ve had no problems/slowdowns/viruses whatsoever except for the battery crapping out (3 DAYS before the warranty expired! Woo hoo!), so I figure I would be saving a lot of money that I would ordinarily be spending on him.

  18. DADvocate says:

    >Shucks, I was looking for hamster sex and ended up here. Might as well comment while I’m at it.I’m on my second Dell desktop PC. I’m happy except that my new one has Vista. Like mrs. n says, Vista is evil.Unless you have a very specific need for a PC, I’d stick with Macs. I don’t know the details, but you can run PC software on a Mac. This ability has been available in some form or another for about 20 years. Check it out.

  19. >I’m an unimaginative Windows user; my older sister uses a Mac for business and other. You know what you need; pick the system based on your needs and the ease of meeting those needs with one or the other.*nice dodge, eh?*As “to post or not to post”, if your gut says run widdit, run widdit; if your gut says “the young ‘uns won’t give me time if this gets my guts in an uproar”, then don’t run widdit. But my vote is run widdit.

  20. b says:

    >Apple comes with leopard now, and you can switch your Apple to PC mode. No joke, we can run PC programs on our Apple. Like all the old PreK computer game hand-me-downs from my sister, for example. Go to the Apple store and do like me saying, “What’s up with that Jaguar or Tiger program you have now?” The guy laughed for 10 minutes and said, “I think you mean Leopard, unless there’s a NEW program?”

  21. Meg says:

    >I heart my Mac!

  22. Darth Doc says:

    >We are Mac people. I have owned 10 Apple computers so far and have been extremely happy with all them. I do not like the Windows OS’s. My wife converted when we married and she loves them as well. The world is a better place when you have on system in your home. As you have a Mac, I would continue the trend.

  23. Mom101 says:

    >There’s a reason mac users are all evangelists. And smarter. And better looking. Just sayin’…

  24. Sherry says:

    >We (my husband) just got a new PC laptop (with Vista) and I hate it with a passion of 1,000 steaming piles of horse crap. (At least that is what I told him this weekend when it just shut down on me for no apparent reason. Hubs – “Hmmmm. It did that to me the other day.” Hate it. Hate it. Hate it.I’ll take my Mac on its worst day over Vista.

  25. Anonymous says:

    >Like everyone else here, I love my Apple!

  26. Bob says:

    >Sony Vaio’s pretty great if you can afford one.
