Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.

I got to try QuikFix free of charge. My opinions, as always, are my own.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve had odd jobs that would be perfect for a college kid in need of beer money cash to help pay off student loan debt. I have the numbers of several good handymen, but it seems crazy to pay a handyman fee to move a television from the playroom to a bedroom. Or assemble a file cabinet. Or help take down the Christmas tree. Or, most recently, to put together a bookshelf I received for Christmas. I had thought I’d use the service provided by the website the bookshelf came from — but when the charge to put it together turned out to be nearly as much as the bookshelf itself, I put the project on hold.
And then I got an email from QuikFix.
The service expanded to Nashville on February first. Clients can pay a flat rate of $25 an hour to hire a college student to come out and do basically anything that doesn’t require a license, whether it’s tech help, handyman jobs, party/event help, babysitting, moving or assembling furniture, dog walking, or anything else (legal) you can come up with.
QuikFix’s students here in Nashville come from Vanderbilt, Belmont, Lipscomb, and MTSU. They are interviewed and background checked before they come to your home. After reading all of this information, I told the good people of QuikFix I had a bookshelf with their name on it.
They sent out Donovan Sheffield, a Vanderbilt football player and Ensworth grad who is also QuikFix’s new Nashville city manager. He brought his own tools and was able to put the bookshelf together in a little over two hours. I’ve bought this bookshelf two times before (What can I say? I love this bookshelf.) and had two different handymen put it together — It took each of them between 2 and 3 hours, so Donovan’s time was right in line with what I had expected.
In no time, I had a bookshelf. Donovan cleaned up after himself and threw away all the boxing, which was very nice of him.
I can totally recommend QuikFix from personal experience. Use the code QFTEN to get $10 off your first QuikFix appointment — and if you book a service between now and Feburary 14th, 2019, you can get a whopping 25% off the cost by using the code QFVDAY.
