Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.

“Hey, remember Lurleen?” I asked Hubs tonight as we sat in the den.
“Lurleen?” he asked.
“You know,” I said. “She worked at the meats counter at Kroger. And sometimes in the deli. But mostly in the meats. I haven’t seen her in forever. Or that longhaired guy who whistles all the time. Remember him?”
“Yeah,” Hubs said, nodding. “Where have they been? Do you think they were fired?”
“I wonder,” I said thoughtfully. “But you know who’s back? The stoner.”
“Really?” Hubs laughed.
“Yeah,” I said. “He checked me out yesterday.”
“I was at Kroger twice today,” Hubs mused.
“The new deli woman is hilarious,” I continued, chuckling. “She really thinks Boar’s Head is a total rip off. Every time I go in there, she goes on and on about how Private Selection is just as good and so much cheaper.” We both laughed conspiratorially. And then, abruptly, I stopped laughing and frowned.
“What is it?” Hubs asked.
“It’s Saturday night and we’re sitting around reminiscing about our freaking grocery store This is what we’ve been reduced to. We definitely have hit rock bottom.”
Hubs nodded somberly. Parenting. It’s definitely not the new black.
