Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.

Well! Here we are at my brand new blog! Did you make it okay? Are you out of breath and slightly disheveled?
Or is that just me?
Aimee Giese (otherwise known as @Greeblemonkey) has been working hard on this site for a lonnnnng time and now, barring a few kinks we’re working out, these new digs are ready. I feel like I’ve just moved in to an Extreme Makeover house, and I don’t know about you, but I LOVE IT. It is exactly what I’d been envisioning for this site, and while it will take all of us some getting used to, I feel like I can go anywhere and do anything here, for the first time ever. This site has the ability to change as I change, and that is AWESOME.
It is also STRESSFUL, because: WordPress! What are these buttons for? And where is the thingamajig I need to do that thing I always like to do?
And feeds! How do I redirect my old feed and everyone on it to the new one? The directions look like an Algebra II exam!
And readers! Are y’all just going to ditch me now?
And comments! Aimee has worked many, many, (mannnnnnnyyyyy) hours to get the 30,000+ comments over here from the old blog, but y’all. There are some renegade comments out there that are putting up a big fight! What to do???
And hey! LET’S GET ALL THIS STRAIGHTENED OUT YESTERDAY!
Patience is not my strong suit.
So bear with me, please, as we get a few last things worked out. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns about the new site or, especially, advice. Extra points for advice concerning the migration of DISQUS comments to a new blog. And how to redirect a feed to a new web address. And how to use hypnosis and subliminal messages to convince someone to come and clean my house once a week for free.
And beyond that, YAY! Everything is all in one place. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Aimee.
It’s all Suburban Turmoil, all the time!
BOOGIE DOWN.

Lindsay, it’s gorgeous! Congrats to you and Aimee both for a beautiful vision and execution.
Thanks, Julie!
WooHoo!!! Looks great!!
Thank you!
It looks so awesome. But don’t forget us little people. Sniff…
Don’t YOU forget ME! 😀
I liked the old site, but this one’s even better! Looks fabulous.
Thanks!
I wish I was a handy nerd who could dish out all the wisdom you need. Alas I am simply a music nerd, able to screw up lyrics in a single breath, “Rock the sasquatch” anyone?
Suffice it to say, the site seems to embody everything you have accomplished, learned and strived for in your writing and living. It looks gorgeous on you!
Way to go Aimee & Lindsay!
LOL, we will figure it all out in time. 🙂 This has taught me just enough to know that I could NEVER be a blog designer. The little I’ve tried to help with has left me quivering and drooling in a corner.
Love it! So excited for this next phase…
Thank you!
I feel like such a nerd! I pulled you up from my favs & it routed me here, so i screamed (at work mind you) SHE DID IT!! I LOVE you & Im so happy for you & all of the great things coming your way!! Great people deserve the GREAT blessings God has for them & you worked for it. Freakin Mommy inspiration…. YAAAAAY LINDSAY!!!!!!!!!
Ha ha, that’s awesome! You made my day. 🙂
Is there a way to read your older blogs? And by older I mean like 2008? I’ve been reading for a while and recently decided to start from the beginning. I was up to April of 2008 and I can’t figure out how to get back!
The new site looks wonderful but I miss being able to just click older posts.
Yes, Colleen, Aimee is working on an archives button now. Should be up soon. 🙂
Thanks so much! I can’t wait to keep reading! I love all of your posts and I share a lot of them with a woman I work with (she has three grown children and I’m young and still childless – she gets a kick out of your writing!)
Keep it up!
Looks great and is easy to navigate!
Thanks!
It looks awesome! clean. organized. inviting. Bravo to you and Amy!

Thank you!! Exactly what we were going for. 🙂
love the new digs!
I like the new look of your blog, and I think the picture of you and your whole family is just lovely!
Thank you- I think there’s enough grimacing in the photo to keep it real. ;D
I’m always freaked out by change, but I also adapt quickly. I’m happy for you! I’m going beach CAMPING tomorrow for the first time. With the kids and the hubs. Yikes! Wish me luck.
It will be FUN! And! And! SANDY! Have a great trip. 🙂
Just lovely! I’m really digging the new format.
Thanks! Me too!
I’ve bookmarked the new site so you can appear at the touch of my pinkie finger. Oh the labor involved!
You are too kind. 😉
Where are the older posts??? I can only visit your site a few times a week and ws looking forward to reading about vacation at the beach: and now it’s gone! (Big sob) Please direct me! Yvonne
Yvonne, I think Aimee is working on an archives button as we speak!
Older posts in general will go under the “Live” tab up at the top, and you can access them there now, in order. Think of that as my personal blog. 🙂 The other channels are largely composed of things I couldn’t write about much (or at all) on my personal blog, anyway.
love the new format. I need to do a similar thing for all my interests. entertaining. scrapbooking. organizing. staging. wedding/ events. all just sideline interest while the JOB pays the bills but ready to take a leap I think….. Mare in Atl
Good luck with your new endeavor, Mare!
New site looks amazing, Lindsay. Congrats.
Thanks, Chase!
At first the site frightened me, but I am not good with change. I will say that it loads much better than your old site and I like that your style blog is linked here. I never remembered to bookmarked it, which means I forget to check it until you mention it here. Now, I have the easy access tab. Downside? I will be ignoring my kids a lot more. 😉
Ha!
If you get confused, just remember that the “Live” tab is basically the old blog. The other channels are things I either wasn’t doing before or if I was (recipes), you probably weren’t reading anyway- The slideshow will show you what ALL the latest stories are, but you can choose to read them or not- depending on whether they interest you. 🙂
Love, Love, Love the new look! Very nicely laid out and the new header design is awesome! Do you have any thoughts on what you like/dislike about WordPress. I am still on Blogger but have considered changing.
Thank you, me too! WordPress takes some getting used to, but ultimately you can do MUCH more with it than Blogger. It’s definitely the way to go, I think.

I made it! Better late than never! FYI your feed link on your old page doesn’t work with google reader for some reason, tried several browsers over several days. (just in a normal non-stalker way) Finally figured out just to add it in manually and it works fine. Can’t wait to catch up!
Thank you! I don’t even know what that means, unfortunately. I tried to redirect my old feed and I noticed it’s not showing up on Google Reader anymore… Hopefully, the people who are actually reading will just click on the new feed button and rejoin?? Yargh.
