Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.

>If I had a nickle for very soy vineager sauce that ended up on the floor….:-)
>I love the first look, as he’s regestering the spill, and then pointing his finger, like “Hey, like it? Pretty good if I do say so myself.”Lucky guy he’s got a helpful big sister. My boys are usually on their own.
>Party Guests-Yes, that is weird to invite someone you’ve only met once- unless maybe it is someone who just moved to your church or school etc and they will be in your regular circle of acqaintances at least- sort of a way to welcome them in and help them get to know the other kids-I’ve let my kids invite their entire classroom when the party location can accomodate it and it doesn’t really cost any more to do so- because too often, they want to invite almost the whole class- and I always feel bad leaving out just a few, so I have them just invite everyone. It is by no means a ploy to get more gifts or show-off, I just feel bad leaving people out. 1/2 the gifts end up donated to charity anyway-Now that my oldest daughter is well, older, we’ve been having birthday sleepovers at a local hotel with a 24 hour pool and great, complimentary breakfast. I end up spending the same amount of money as I would otherwise and my house doesn’t get trashed and then the number of guests also has to be pared down to just a few for obvious reasons- this sort of happens organically anyway as they get older-
>Oh, crap. Luckily, I have a rug in my living room. We’re on our third in only four years. Though vinegar hasn’t been one of the tools of destruction used yet. The vinegar is now going to the back of the cupboard.
>I have to agree with you on the birthday invite thing. We owe the neighbors across the street a pizza-and-beer night, and still can’t do it.The only kids invited to our kids birthday partys are our friends kids. Even then, everyone is excited to see each other.
>What a great blog you’ve got, I came over from slouching mom, I really enjoyed your column on being a soccer widow too.
>I’m not sweatin’ the stain, but the smell?? Vinegar? ooh, honey.
>God, he’s adorable!
>How fitting that the sidebar ad is for a Mr. Clean magic eraser!!
>He’s so freaking cute. Mess making and all.it’s that thing of not leaving anyone out. I kinda can’t wait until it changes. Last year my oldest went to 12 of the 16 birthday parties that she was invited too. The other parents were probably thrilled that their kids bday was during summer.
