What You Should Be Watching on Sunday Afternoons

Once upon a time, I got in line for dinner at a blog conference behind a woman named Daphne. Although we’d never met, we both knew of each other through our work with CafeMom, and so we started talking. And then we ended up sitting together so that we could continue the conversation. And then we ended up in a heart-to-heart (along with another woman I love, Barbara Jones) about work, marriage, blended families, kids, and social media, which lasted until the waiters began taking away chairs from the tables at the end of the night and basically forced us to leave.

That woman was Daphne Brogdon– and she had always fascinated me because she was so damn good in every video I’d ever seen her in. (Not to mention the PackIt commercial. TO THIS DAY, I buy PackIts for my kids at the start of every school year, and to me, Daphne will forever be The PackIt Mom .) Daphne was so good, in fact, that I couldn’t understand why she didn’t have her own TV show.

Well?

Now she does.

Daphne Dishes now airs Sundays on the Food Network at 12pm EST/11am CT. It’s a family-friendly cooking show that combines Daphne’s humor (she’s also a stand-up comedian) with recipes that even the busiest mom can handle.

And if you ask me, The Pioneer Woman had better watch her back.

I think you should watch Daphne’s show, not because she asked me to ask you to watch it (she didn’t) or because I’m getting paid to watch it (I’m not).

I think you should watch her show because she’s awesome- both in real life and on her new TV show. I mean, we all hope that our favorite TV stars are as great in real life as they are on camera, right? Well, Daphne’s the real deal. She’s witty and kind and hard-working and most importantly, REAL — She’s the kind of woman who deserves to succeed, and if we can be a part of making that happen, I say let’s do it.

So, let’s review:

Sundays. 

Food Network.

DAPHNE DISHES.

You won’t be disappointed.
