Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.

>Enough with the spanking debates! The Mommy Blogging Brouhahas!
Today is Memorial Day and there’s only one way to celebrate it….
My Bumpits FINALLY arrived in the mail and well… you’ve just got to see it to believe it. Check out my Bumpits experience in this week’s Her Nashville.

>Thank you for the review – I’ve been wondering about them myself!
>Way to celebrate Memorial Day!?! I find it odd to hear folks say, “Happy Memorial Day!” I cringe when I hear this. How is this a happy occasion? Memorial Day is a time to remember our fallen soldiers. While I do understand that this is generally considered the “official” summer kick-off marked by family get togethers and barbeques, I would hardly call it happy. It seems nowadays, the true meaning of things have become lost in the shuffle of commercialism (three day weekend,Memorial Day Sales etc.). I’m very fortunate to have my brother come home safely from Iraq, but many families have lost a loved one in a war. So I wanted to take the time to remember our nation’s fallen heroes. I ask that the solemn nature of this occasion not be forgotten and that we reflect on the history of sacrifices made for freedom.
>I actually remember trying to create a “bump” on the top of my head for an “up do” for a homecoming dance in high school…I think I used a large velcro roller to create a bump. It created an anchor for me to build an obscene amount of curls around. If only the “bumpit” would have been available, if only!!! 🙂
>I saw an ad for these the other day. I think they’re selling something that already exists, aren’t they?
>Hey, Anonymous! Lighten up. You picked the wrong blog to sound off about whether saying “Happy Memorial Day” is appropriate or not.I’m glad your brother is home safely from Iraq as well – isn’t that a reason for YOU to say “Happy Memorial Day”? You’re right about the holiday being one of remembrance for deceased members of the service, but continuing to enjoy our liberties as a country because of them can give people a right to celebrate as well. If you would like the “solemn nature” of Memorial Day to not be forgotten, you need to allow for a celebration of their efforts. Otherwise, their deaths would have been in vain.P.S. Bumpits suck. Save your own hair from a hairbrush, wash it, dry it, and stick it in some old clean pantyhose. Works just as well and is free.
>Reminds me way to much of the beehive my mom wore in the sixties, along with the minidress and the go-go boots. She was one groovy chick, man, and I was a little groovy girl.
>I had to work today, but this review made my Memorial Day happy! I was wondering, would it be possible to use multiple Bumpits at the same time? Like, could you use the Hollywood Bumpit in the usual way and a couple more on the sides?
>I don’t see why not- They stay in place pretty well.
>Well, I am glad I didn’t waste my money. I was wanting to try these too. I hear that Vidal Sassoon makes something similar but it is smaller…..Hair Poufs or something like that?Wonder if those would do better?
>I’m so glad I didn’t get it by the way. I was tempted but the shipping ouch! Crazy why so much on the shipping? Thanks for the great review.Oh Caroline I wasn’t mad when I mentioned about the true meaning of Memorial Day being forgotten. Just wanted to share what meaning of this day is about that’s all. So no need for me to lighten up I wasn’t mad or anything! Thanks for your input! :)And I’ll tell my brother you said thanks!
>Is bumpit a southern girl thing? I admit when I saw them on tv I wanted big hair too. Unfortunately as a northern girl I can’t imagine what a Canadian winter would do to that thing. Freeze to my head? Fill with snow? I don’t think I’ll risk it.
>I was always interested in trying one of these things. The “bumps” seem a little to big for my taste, so maybe I will look into the smaller version.
>Something about lady bumps goes here…
>Hahahaha, awesome review. I also tried the Bumpits and had a completely different problem- I didn’t have enough hair to COVER it. So much for my dreams of having vampy, voluminous hair…my hair is too thin to begin with. Blah.A head’s up to anyone that wants to try them- Look on Ebay. I ordered mine there and had them in my hot little hands within a week. 😀
>Your review was hilarious :)I really, really want to try these JUST to see how many more weird looks I get.
