Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.

>Aww, that picture of y’all is too sweet. Happy Anniversary!
>Ugh, Im not seeing anything but red X’s!
>Was Elgin significant to you or your husband in some way? It seems like Americans (that isn’t meant to be condescending at all) would choose St. Andrews or Edinburgh or something.I lived in Scotland until I was 6, and visit every summer. I’m an Arizona girl now, though. 🙂
>Awwwwwwww. Happy anniversary!(Bonus funny: word verification for this comment? REEK)
>Happy Anniversary and Independence Day!

>We thought it would be more fun to spend our wedding money traveling than to have a big wedding at home. So with 11 of our family and friends, we spent a week in London, then flew to Elgin, spent a few days there and married. After that, Hubs and I went on a honeymoon in Edinburgh, York, the Cotswolds and back to London before we came home.Scotland makes it easy to get married there if you’re a foreigner (to get married in England, you have to be there at least two weeks!), and I thought it would be too difficult to make wedding arrangements in a country where English isn’t spoken, so Scotland it was. Nearly every manor/estate/castle there has a wedding planner and various wedding packages available, so it was just a matter of finding something nice and affordable and that’s how I came up with the Mansion House in Elgin. And it was GORGEOUS and perfect in every way and even better than I had planned it and we took most of our wedding pictures at some amazing ruins of a cathedral about a half-mile from our hotel.
>I can’t see pictures. I want to see pictures. Gah!Happy Anniversary!
>Those pictures look like a wedding ad! How beautiful! My grandpa was from Scotland – I haven’t been there yet, but I sooooo want to go someday.
>oooo la la…. how chic,
>Oh, yeah, I should mention that two of our guests were professional photographers. 🙂
>Gorgeous pictures – happy anniversary. What a grand idea to befriend professional photographers 😉
>I. am. so. jealous. We wanted to do the same (quasi-elope) but my MIL is afraid to fly. She threw a fit that she was being excluded (we would have paid for her flight and accommodations, but no, she WON’T fly)(but she did fly to her grandson’s wedding last year)(no, I’m not horribly bitter). I capitulated (my hubby didn’t want to give in, but I didn’t want start out like that). We had the wedding I never wanted, puffy dress and all.
