Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.

>”Hello, Lindsay,” said a voice from behind me as the second round tournament game kicked off. I clenched my fists and turned, smiling.
“Hello, Busy Mom,” I said through gritted teeth.
“Heard your team lost last night for the first time in years. I guess you know we beat that team a few hours ago!”
“Yes,” I said quietly. “I heard. Now if you’ll excuse me-” I turned back to the game.
“So, have you gotten a free Wii yet?” B-Mo said quickly.
Ooh, she knew how to twist the knife! Against my will, I turned back around. “As a matter of fact I haven’t. Have you?” I looked at her suspiciously. She smirked in response.
“It’s not like it’s a competition,” she said, laughing. “I wouldn’t dream of competing against another mommyblogger! We’ll leave that to our girls!” She gestured benevolently at our daughters, who were busily trying to kick each other’s shins on the field. I paused. Maybe I’d gotten her wrong. Maybe she really did have my best interests at heart…
“I guess you’re right,” I said finally. “I mean, I am getting some free Metamucil soon, and that’ll probably be a lot better for my marriage than a Nintendo!” We both laughed hollowly.
“Exactly,” she said. “And some day, maybe you’ll get to go to Florida for free, too, like I did.” My smile faded. “And maybe in time you’ll get as many BlogAds as I have!” I scowled and scanned the field. What the hell was the score? 15 minutes had passed and still she was going strong. “And maybe you’ll get mentioned in the New York Times Magazine, just like me! And maybe-“
“Stop,” I said finally. I wasn’t going to let her do this to me again. “Tell it to the hand, B-Mo!”
“Now, if you’ll excuse me,” I said in a low voice, “I’ve got a game to watch.”
“But.. but.. wait!” B-Mo said desperately. “There’s this guy you have to meet! Another blogger!” I laughed scornfully. The dame actually had a Plan B.
“Nice to meet you,” I said, shaking the hand of a man known as Hutch. “I can’t believe you hired him to come to this game and distract me!” I said to Busy Mom.
“Oh you’d be amazed at what a few free meals at Mothership Barbeque can get you,” she smiled.
“Well it didn’t work,” I said.
“Oh yeah? What’s the score?” she wanted to know.
I had no idea.
Busy Mom: 2. Lindsay: 0.
Okay, so mercifully, my just-turned-14-year-old took vengeance on the field and we won the game 8-1. However, by scoring that one goal, Busy Mom’s team gained enough overall points to move into the final four with us. Will there be an ultimate showdown? Stay tuned…
UPDATE: ULTIMATE MOMMYBLOGGER SHOWDOWN yesterday afternoon as Team Turmoil and Team Busy faced off for the gold medal. And… Team Turmoil won it all! But I also got B-Mo to agree once and for all to go to BlogHer, so everyone wins!
And by the way, to those one or two of you who think this “battle” is real and have been leaving ugly comments, we were TOTALLY making fun of you yesterday on the fields. Because nobody messes with my gurl B-Mo.
