Hi! I'm Lindsay Ferrier. You might remember me from a blog called Suburban Turmoil. Well, a lot has changed since I started that blog in 2005. My kids grew up, I got a divorce, and I finally left the suburbs for the heart of Nashville, where I feel like I truly belong. I have no idea what the future will hold and you know what? I'm okay with that. Thrilled, actually. It was time for something totally different.

For the last few days, my neighborhood has been surrounded by this. (Behold! The friendly Publix down the road!)
We were literally trapped in Bellevue (a community of Nashville), with no way out, no power, and the threat of no water. My family was lucky and stayed high and dry. But hundreds of my neighbors, some as close as a mile away, weren’t. They’ve lost everything. I’m trying not to cry as I write this at Starbucks. My heart hurts for them.
I’m also so moved, though, by the compassion and thoughtfulness of my neighbors. Everyone has pulled together here. I really do live in a wonderful place. Stories of amazing bravery abound. Neighbors are helping neighbors. Nashville is AWESOME, y’all.
I’m going to have limited Internet access over the next few days, so please be patient with me. I have a lot to tell. I’ve gotten lots of e-mails from readers wanting to know what they can do to help, and if I find someone who could use your help (and I may have already), I will let you know. I’d love to focus on one family, so that you all know exactly where your donations are going.
If you pray, please pray for the families affected by the flooding here in Middle Tennessee. I can tell you from what I’ve seen that they could really use your thoughts right now.
